I had the same issues when powering an Intel 7i5 NUC at 12v, but it ran fine at 19v. However, I added Celestron's CPWI (an APP like Stellarium) and the crashes started again. This time the issue was that I needed to increase RAM to 8 Gb. If Recovery doesn't automatically start,try to initiate it by pressing F8 during boot. I've finally solved my issues with this, a 5A 12 to 5V convertor that keeps a stable 5.1v output even under full load. Stellarium and CDC now run fine for hours and no crashes.
