I did not know much about Hell�s Paradise�going in. I knew it was an action series, and an intense one at that from just looking at the cover and glancing at the description. So, I set my expectations accordingly, but to my surprise, I got more than what I expected. Many heads roll in the first volume of Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku, and while it’s an absolute bloodbath through and through, it’s not your average, run-of-the-mill horror manga. I started this manga off thinking that it really wasn't for me and I wouldn't enjoy it. The main character seemed pretty one dimensional to begin with, and the only thing that kept me going was the bad ass executioner lady character. This manga is kind of a mix of criminal heist, adult Naruto mixed in with battle royale. The premise is simple enough. A group of criminals and the minders are sent to an island. A paradise, but as the title says, it is a hell's paradise, but they all have reason to want to find that elixir. For Gabimaru, it is straightforward.
